Things To Do In Mgahinga National Park Besides Gorilla Trekking

Mgahinga National Park in Uganda offers a range of activities beyond gorilla trekking, allowing visitors to immerse themselves in the unique biodiversity and cultural experiences of the region. Here are some options Mgahinga Gorilla National Park has to offer to its visitors:

Golden Monkey Tracking

Mgahinga Gorilla National Park is home to the rare golden monkeys. It is the only national park in Uganda where you can find golden monkeys. Guided treks are available to track these playful and endangered primates through the forest.

A Golden Monkey tracking permit goes for $60 per foreign non-resident, $50 for foreign residents, and Ugx 40,000 for Ugandans. However, unlike gorilla treks where the park entrance is included in the permit, golden monkey trekking requires you to pay park entrance. Foreign non-residents are charged $40 per person, and $30 for foreign residents.

Therefore for clarity purposes, Golden Monkey tracking is $100 for foreign non-residents, $80 for foreign residents, and Ugx 60,000 for East Africans.

Golden Monkey Habituation Experience

Golden monkey habituation experience is also available in Mgahinga Gorilla National Park. Similar to golden monkey tracking; the park entrances and habituation permits are charged separately. A golden monkey habituation permit costs $100 for foreign non-residents, $80 for foreign non-residents, and Ugx 100,000 for East Africans.

The actual cost of a Golden Monkey habituation experience, including park entrances, is $140 for foreign non-resident residents, $110 for foreign residents, and Ugx 120,000 for East Africans.
