Our 14 Days explore Uganda gives you a total Uganda experience of total safari adventure from flying to Kidepo to Murchison fall, a full day Chimpanzee Habituation Experience at Kibale Forests, Primate walk in Kyambura Gorge and to Gorilla Tracking in Bwindi National Park, then after transfer to lake Bunyonyi for relaxation on beautiful rolling hills and finally to Lake Mburo National Park.
Day 1 Fly to Kidepo Valley National park.
Our guide/driver picks you at from your hotel or place of residence in Kampala/Entebbe for your transfer to Entebbe International Airports to catch up with a scheduled flight to Kidepo valley National Park. Flight time at 1230 arriving at 1445. The Park is a completely different world of vast plains, in spring view from every vantage point, with a lot of wildlife as you drive into the park. Kidepo offers breathtaking open savannah which is surrounded by spectacular mountain landscape nowhere to be seen in Africa! Kidepo Valley National Park is Uganda’s second biggest National Park one of Africa’s finest wilderness areas, This evening you will take a sunset game drive in the Narus valley in search for the lions, Jackson hartebeests, buffaloes, giraffes, leopard and cheetah . Dinner and overnight at Apoka Safari Lodge/savanna lodge. Meal plan Dinner
Day 2 Kidepo Valley National Park – Game Drive to Kanangorok Hot Springs
Early morning for breakfast, catch the sun rise behind the mountain before flooding the valley then off for the game drive to the ostrich farm it not any man made occurrence, but given the massive number of birds one would observe along the way, herds of elephants, cape buffalos, giraffes, lions and then the hot springs at kanangorok, lunch at Apoka safari lodge. In the afternoon have a cultural experience that will bring into contact with Karamojong peoples at Karenga and Kapedo. Meet the local elders and have an opportunity to interact with them. They will show you the kraals, the grinding stones and many more interesting items. Dinner and overnight at Apoka Safari Lodge/savanna lodge. Meal plan Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner
Day 3 Kidepo Valley National Park – Guided nature walk
After an early breakfast, you will be joined by an expert ranger guide for a nature walk to explore the park on foot away from the steel clad of safari car sharing his knowledge of the eco-system and also bring you closure to the animals and for birders, look out for Fox Kestrel, Eastern Chanting Goshawk, Grasshopper Buzzard, Montague’s Harrier, Fan Tailed Raven and the very rare Stone Partridge. The afternoon is spent on relaxation and sightseeing around the lodge OR choose to have an evening game drive for more wildlife and game. Overnight stay at Apoka safari lodge/savanna lodge. Day 4 Kidepo Valley National Park – Fly Murchison Falls. Flight leaves at 1300hrs
On this day we have early breakfast, drive through the park, giving chance to see elephants, buffalos, different kinds of antelopes towards Katarum gate making a stop at katarum kopje a site of the derelict lodge built in the rock but currently under renovation to have a bird eye view of the park, . After prepare your selves to catch up the flight to Murchison Falls. You will meet our guide on arrival for your ground transfer to Parra Safari Lodge/Bakers lodge/Fort Murchison for relaxation and overnight stay Meal plan Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner
Day 5 Murchison Falls National Park
After your cup of coffee, you will embark on morning game drive where you expect to spot Elephant, Lion, Cape buffalo, Rothschild’s giraffe, hartebeest, Waterbuck, Oribi, Bushbuck, Bohor reedbuck, hyena and if you are lucky, the leopard. Return to the hotel for breakfast and lunch. After lunch, go for a boat safari upstream the calm Victoria Nile to the base of the falls stopping just tens of meters from the “Devil’s Cauldron”. En-route, marvel at the toothsome hippos, crocodiles and over this 17 km stretch you may see elephant, waterbuck and Uganda Kob crocodile. This is also a zone of many bird species like Goliath heron, Egyptian goose, pelican bee-eater, kingfisher, hornbill, cormorant and the rare shoebill stork.
There you leave the boat and start your – quite heavy – hike to the Top of the fall (approx. 1 hour). See where the world’s longest river explodes violently through a narrow cleft in the Rift Valley escarpment to plunge into a frothing pool 43m below. Day 6: Murchison Falls National Park – Kibale National Park (Travel Time +8hrs)
All day drive south via Hoima to Fort Portal through verdant countryside and past traditional homesteads and farms along Albertine Rift escarpments. Fort-Portal rests in the shadow of the fabled Mountains of the Moon. Meals and over night at Ndali Lodge/Papaya Kibale Lodge/Kibale Forest Camp. Meal plan: (B, L, D)
Day 7: Kibale Chimpanzee Habituation Experience
Today is dedicated for Kibale Chimpanzee Habituation Experience. Start the day with a morning early breakfast a packed lunch and you are off before dawn breaks into the forest. You meet your guide and you are off to where the chimpanzees built nests the night before. Dawn is just breaking and the chimpanzee community you are going to be with the rest of the day is rising from their sleep in the nests.
Your day will be full, your camera will fill up with quality pictures of the chimpanzees and you will get to learn to identify them as individuals by their markings, sometimes scars and other unique features that make them stand apart from rest. Besides everything described there are the most colorful butterflies, plants and trees that will amaze you the setting is simply awesome. Day 8: Kibale Primate Visit – Kyambura, Queen Elizabeth National Park (Travel Time +2hrs)
In the morning, drive to the south into Queen Elizabeth National Park, sightseeing and game viewing en route, ready for guided Chimpanzee/primate walk along Kyambura Gorge to look for habituated chimps through the gorge. Dinner and overnight at Mweya Safari Lodge/Park view/Bush lodge Meal plan: Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner
Day 9: Queen Elizabeth National Park Safari – Bwindi Impenetrable National Park (Travel Time +4hrs)
With previous day’s memories, enjoy your breakfast proceed to Ishasha. You will drive along the deep and wide dry craters that are occupied by savanna grasses and acacia. The drive takes you through the unique western rift valley escarpment and the (southern part of Queen Elizabeth National Park) Ishasha sector where you will take on a game drive in search of tree climbing lions before proceeding to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park.
The journey takes about 4 hours but driving through interesting features. Arrive Bwindi Impenetrable National Park in the evening. This park is home of the rare mountain gorillas. Apart from gorillas, there are a wide variety of primates to see including the blue and red tailed monkeys. The forest itself is lush and green and there are streams running through it. Dinner and overnight stay at either chameleon hill, Mutanda resort,Rushaga gorilla camp Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner
Day 10: Bwindi Gorilla Tracking
After breakfast set off early with guides to track the gorillas. The thrill of your encounter will erase the difficulties of the potentially strenuous trek. Bring jungle boots and rain jackets because the park is often wet. Spend time in awe watching the gorillas go about their activities. Each gorilla safari encounter is different and has its own rewards, but you are likely to enjoy the close view of adults feeding, grooming and resting as the youngsters frolic and swing from vines in a delightfully playful display.
Bwindi Impenetrable Forest is a magnificent green swathe of dense rain forest, so ancient that survived the last ice age. A recently proclaimed World Heritage site, it’s one of the most biologically diverse areas on earth and its unique, precious flora sustains roughly half of the world population of mountain gorillas – believed to number just 720. There’s also a substantial chimpanzee population and research shows that Bwindi is the only forest in Africa in which these two apes live together.
Time permitting, spend the afternoon on a community foot safari to explore the life style of the people living and surrounding the park. Return to camp exhilarated to relieve the encounter with friends over a drink. Dinner and overnight stay at Rushaga Gorilla Lodge/Chameleon Hill Lodge/Gorilla Safari Lodge. Meal plan: Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner
Day 11: Bwindi Impenetrable National Park – Lake Bunyonyi
After early morning breakfast drive and proceed to Kable regions famously known as the Switzerland of Africa as you will be moved by the winding scenery and the beautiful rolling hills reaching on Lake Bunyonyi relax and have lunch, then in after noon you will go for boat ride a long lake Bunyonyi as you watch a variety of colorful bird species. Meal Plan: F/B accommodation at Acadia Lodge.
Day 12, Transfer to Lake Mburo
Begin your day with a cup of coffee and then drive to Lake Mburo National Park. Stay for an overnight as you prepare for tomorrow game drive and boat cruise: Accommodation Options: Mihingo Safari Lodge/Mantana Tented Camp/Rwakobo Safari Lodge/Eagles Nest Mburo.
Day 13, Lake Mburo National Park
Beings your day with cap of coffee, explore the Park with a game drive as an extension of the Tanzania plain with the big hard of zebra, impala, eland and other ungulates. Bird watching opportunity for birders, this is one of the best places to find African fin foot, papyrus bush shrike including the rare shoebill stork, White-winged Warbler, Crested Francolin among others and return to the lodge for lunch and relaxation. After drive to the Lake ready for a boat cruise. Here expect to see species of birds, Hippos and other species of animals. The calmness of the lake with animals coming to drink water is another memorable experience. Later, Return to your lodge for a relaxed evening, dinner and overnight. Meal plan F/B. Day 14, Lake Mburo National Park – Kampala and Entebbe
After early breakfast, take on a morning Bush walk. Lake Mburo National Park is a very special place; every part of it is alive with variety, interest and colour. It contains an extensive wetland. You are likely to see elands, impalas, water bucks, warthogs, and zebras. Thereafter drive to back to Kampala with a stopover at the Equator monument and Igongo cultural center to know the back ground of Ankole culture and later transfer to Entebbe to catch up with your evening flight back home. Meal plan: Breakfast, lunch.
